Parcells/Jets QB Updates

Bad day for Falcons. Good day for the Mangenius. (Photo by The Associated Press.)The Associated Press is reporting that the Atlanta Falcons have announced that Bill Parcells has turned down their offer to lead their football operations. I can’t say I’m surprised since the Falcons are a… how should we put this… a challenge. But from an Atlanta perspective, this is just another bad day in a year full of them. I guess if there’s any consolation, it’s that owner Arthur Blank realizes he needs to shake things up and is willing to spare no expense in fixing his team. But it’s going to be a tough sell.

Meanwhile, you have to hand it to Eric Mangini. He found a way to put an end to a needless controversy and still keep his competitive advantage over the Titans. He said today that Kellen Clemens will start this Sunday for the Jets… if healthy. It accomplishes the obvious goal of not having a quarterback controversy on a three-win team. And it accomplishes his own goal of keeping the Titans guess as to who will be the starting quarterback. He even made the right choice on the QB. Pretty smart.
